The WTO is a powerful unelected body which sets trade rules that undermine democracy and threaten the health of workers and the environment. These special screenings of edits taken from "Showdown in Seattle: Five Days that Shook the WTO" highlight the real issues behind the WTO and the massive protests that shut in down in Seattle, late last year.
February screening schedule of WTO videos from the documentary series Showdown in Seattle: Five Days That Shook the WTO.
Back by popular demand, these special screenings of Showdown in Seattle
focus on the real issues behind the WTO. Because access to the satellite broadcasts during the WTO was limited, and audience response has been overwhelming, hundreds of screenings have been organized across the world. Four screenings are scheduled for February 2000 in the Bay Area.
This new one hour screening-edit of Showdown in Seattle features an on-the-ground, non-corporate perspective and in-depth analysis you won't find anywhere else, in addition to incredible footage of police repression and popular resistance.
The program is made up of segments shot and edited on location in downtown Seattle by an unprecedented collaboration of video producers from around the U.S. working under the umbrella of the Independent Media Center (www.indymedia.org). Producers include: Big Noise Films, Changing America, Headwaters Action Video Collective, JustAct, Paper Tiger TV, Sleeping Giant Productions, VideoActive and Whispered Media, and Wholesomegoodness in conjunction with the Independent Media Center.
Videos of the full 5 show series will be available at all 4 screenings or by visiting www.videoactivism.org
