| 100,000 for Peace in UK London saw one of the UK's biggest demonstrations in over a decade (Sunday 18 November) when over a hundred thousand people from across the country gathered to call for an end to the US-led bombardment of Afghanistan. 3,500 Civilians Killed in Afghanistan by U.S. Bombs A December 10 report by Marc Herold points to high numbers of civilian casualties. Those who have not died from the bombs of the recent air-strikes are also facing the perils of mines, cluster bombs and much suffering as displaced persons roaming the cold, hungry and desparate landscapes of winter war. Michael Ruppert's Timeline The Right Questions We Interupt This Message has recently put up a great page on stategies for reframing the debate and asking better questions of ourselves and the media in the midst of the crisis. Questions Remain Big questions remain about the tragedy of September 11 and the ensuing war policy and police state. Dare to question and maybe even participate. |

Videoactivist, Angelo Sacerdote's, Smash Ahead to Victory edits together key clips from the 1940's films which were created to villify the "other" (in this case - the Japanese) and to lend energy and support to the war against them. The World at War Pearl Harbor US intelligence officials knew that the attack on Pearl Harbor was coming and yet they failed to warn the people stationed there and failed to take measures to shelter the ships. Why? When we consider the amount of anti-japanese rhetoric and slick film propaganda that immediately followed the attack - a sinister agenda emerges. The military-industrial complex was itching for war in the Pacific. The barage of racist and venfeful film, radio and print messages that followed the attacks of December 7, fostered a climate of fear and revenge in the american general public. Once again the media machinery of war has played the american public and replaced logic and compassion with fear. Unholy Wars |

UK's Labour Against The Warfounder Alan SimpsonSpeaks Out in UK Parliament " ... If we are defending democracy, we also have to be willing to practice it." " ... it may not make any sense at all to think that you can bomb an ideology in the way that you can fight a war with a country." " These avoidable civilian deaths" would be on a "scale that vastly outstrips the equally innocent civilian lives that were lost in the terrorist attacks in America" and may lead to further violence against the West." "The danger," he argues, "is then that we recruit more terrorists than we have killed, we create regional instabilities across Central Asia and the Middle East which themselves will spawn fundamentalist rather than secular and democratic regimes." |
